Our Newest Initiative
A Step Beyond
We’re excited to introduce A Step Beyond—a brand-new, 3-year student support program launching in the 2025–26 school year through Beyond Breakthrough. We’re kicking off with 30 Breakthrough Public Schools alumni, all current 10th graders, and we’re looking for caring, committed adults to serve as founding mentors.
This is not about having the “perfect” expertise—it’s about showing up. Mentors will help students grow by simply being a consistent, positive presence. We know that statistics show that young people with more adults in their lives who care about them perform better in all aspects of their lives. If this speaks to you we would love to have you join us!
What's the Commitment?
-
Mentor-Mentee Meetings
Two, 30–60 minute virtual meetings per year are required for the student participants. These meetings would be one-on-one with an assigned mentor. Naturally, we are hoping that once connections are made the conversations become more regular but all that is technically required is two conversations.
-
Optional Attendance at Networking Events (December & May)
We will be hosting a networking event in December and an end-of-year poster presentation in May. These will be great opportunities for mentors and students to connect in person.
*Guidance and support will be provided by our team every step of the way!
If you believe in the power of showing up for young people, we’d love to have you on board. Please feel free to share with others, the more the merrier!
